It belongs to Beli Rajputan, a village of pre-independence era where two influential families, Hindu Rajputs and a Muslim family have a strong hold and they write the script of their lives in one way or another.
Story starts off in the pre-independence era, when Lady Maya is shown returning from Amritsar in her horse carriage with the rider and her carriage is stopped by some dacoits. When the leader of the folk (Badar Ghazan) asks his partner Nadir to leave them so that they can go and unwilling Nadir allows them to go.
When Maya reaches the village Beli Rajputan, a tragic news awaits her that her husband Shekher has died in a fire accident which took place the last night in the mansion (haweli). Uncle of Shekher and his cousin tries their level best to make Maya go from there so that they can take control of all the wealth of Shekher, however she refutes to go and befriends with Zahra.
Zahra is in love with Badar Ghazan (the solid dacoit and messiah of innocents) and no one dares to look upon her with an evil eye as everyone knows that she is her fiancée. She is sweet, innocent and beauty at its best.
In dark winter nights, some village people observe that some ghost roams around the village and digs the graveyard but no one dares to investigate the reality.
As the story moves ahead, we get to see that a special bonding (sort of love) a passionate relation starts building up between Badar and Maya and people starts noticing it. Zahra feel insecure about it and complains regarding the same to Badar's mother who in turn assures her that no matter what Badar will marry her.
Badar fells in love with Maya and refuses to marry Zahra. Nadir Shah has a liking for Zahra and he sends the marriage proposal to their home (without mentioning his own name) which is turned over by Badar. Nadir murders a decoit and convicts Badar after planting it against him. Maya rescues him and gets him out of this chronic murder accusation.
BRKM is a clear winner in terms of the treatment by the author. It was a novel thought and Nimrah presented it in such an authoritative manner. Imagery used by Nimrah Ahmed is phenomenal and let me tell you showcasing the history in such an authentic style is not at all an easy task, which Nimrah has done with utmost ease.
Dialogues are superb. Specially those written for Zahra and Maya. In case of Maya, these dialogue enhances the mystery associated with her strange character. Scenes featuring Maya and Badar are full of love and they are written beautifully.
Detailing and specifications used by Nimra are pitch perfect. The way story starts especially the jungle sequence in the very beginning is written with utmost precision & accuracy. At times you literally feel living in that age with these characters and it is one of the biggest achievements of Nimrah.
BRKM has an ending that will leave you jaw open for sure. Expect the unexpected in true sense. It has a climax & anti climax you will cherish for ages to come.
Overall, BRKM is strong in almost every aspect. Different storyline, believable execution, authentic incidents, passionate expression of different emotions and power packed dialogues make it a must read. I bet, if you read it, you will surely fell in love with it.
